Kristen Spohr-Fulmer

Kristen has been with The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Rome since 2013. She decided on a career in business management while still in high school and she graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University in 2005 with a degree in Business Management and a concentration in Marketing. Since that time, she has worked in jobs ranging from hospitality management to pharmaceutical sales and marketing, positioning her as an ideal candidate for the job of Administrator. Kristen enjoys spending time with her family and working both with the elderly population and the diverse departments within the facility. Kristen hopes to enjoy a long career with The Grand Healthcare System and working directly with employees, residents, and their families.

Kim Smith
Director of Rehabilitation
Kim was born and raised in Rome and attended Russell Sage College where she received a degree in physical therapy. She was recognized in a “Who’s Who” article during her junior year for her academic achievements. Since graduating, Kim has accumulated twenty years of experience as a therapist, starting in an outpatient setting and serving a director of two outpatient facilities, one of which she owned. Kim joined the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing team at Rome in 2007 and she works closely with her team of therapists to ensure excellent outcomes for all residents.

Thomas Thorngren
Director of Adult Day Care

Thomas was born and raised in Utica and attended Mohawk Valley Community College, where he received an associate's degree in Criminal Justice. Thomas has enjoyed a 20 year career in health care, having spent 19 years as the quality of life coordinator at a residential health care facility before joining the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing team. Thomas has been married for 11 years and is the father of a seven year old son and a six year old daughter. A sports lover, Thomas currently enjoys golf and curling.

Brittany Rice
Director of Admissions
Brittany initially began her career with The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Rome as a social worker. After a few years, Brittany decided to redirect her stellar people skills in a different direction and became the Director of Admissions. She received a Bachelor’s degree in history from Hartwick College in 2013. Brittany is committed to service – not only to the wonderful residents of The Grand – but in her own community as well where she is a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Whenever she has a spare moment, Brittany enjoys being in the great outdoors hiking and kayaking.
